Comfort Inn is a motel brand name of an international travel and hospitality holding company Choice Hotels International, Inc. It provides mid-price full service accommodation facilities. The motels comprise a number of amenities including fitness center, sauna, free wireless internet access, cable television, outdoor pool and 40 rooms. Its parent, Choice Hotels International, Inc., started business in 1939. The original name of the company was Quality Courts United. Later on, it started operating under the name Quality Motels and then Quality Inns. It has operations at worldwide locations with main office located in Rockville in the State of Maryland. In September 2005, the company expanded its business with the purchase of Suburban Extended-Stay Hotel chain. As a result, it added 67 more hotels in its business line. It introduced the 24-hour desk services, in-room telephone facility and became the first in the industry to do so. 1963 was the year when it became a for-profit company and adopted the new name Quality Courts Motels, Inc. Three years later, the company made presence in North America and Europe by establishing its hotels. In order to reflect the worldwide presence, the company in 1972 renamed as the Quality Inns International. In 1980, the Manor Care purchased the assets of the company. In the following year, its business was divided into three segments: Quality Royale, Quality Inn and Comfort Inn. In 1987, it made a presence in Indian market and after two years, it emerged as the 3rd largest chain of hotels in the world. The company in 1990 completed the acquisition of the Econo Lodge and Friendship Inn brands. In the year 1995, it unveiled ChoiceHotels.com, and started providing its services through the web.
