Barratt Homes was commenced in the year of 1958 as Greensitt Bros and was operated by Greensitt Bros. They had opened headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne. After few years, it was acquired by Sir Lawrie Barratt. The Company was renamed to Barratt Developments PLC and its headquarters was also shifted to Coalville, England. In 1970s, The Company was on its peak and had built 10,000 houses in a year. During this period, Barratt Homes had acquired many companies like Luton-based Janes. One of its notable customers was Margaret Thatcher, which had been the Prime Minister of UK.
