What is Barclay Center?
Barclay Center is a multipurpose stadium cum entertainment arena in the city of Brooklyn, New York. The center opened in the year 2012 and is owned by Brooklyn Events Center, LLC. It is used for many sporting and entertainment events held over in the region like Basketball, ICE hockey and musical concerts etc. The facility is jointly designed by AECOM (Ellerbe Becket) and SHoP Architects and built at a whopping cost of $1 billion. The stadium holds a capacity to accommodate a maximum of 20,000 persons for different sports. The stadium serve as the home stadium for the New York Islanders an ice hockey team that plays in the National Hockey League. The stadium gives a tough competition to other facilities such as Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, Madison Square Garden in Manhattan, Izod Center in East Rutherford and Prudential Center in Newark etc. The center opened with its first event that was a Jay Z concert held on September 28, 2012. It was named after the British multinational financial service company 'Barclays' and a contract signed between the owner company and Barclays group.
