Dear Athina, My name is Mohan and I contact you from the city of Boston in the United States. I wanted to ask you for some advise. I have trained in martial arts / self defense since I was maybe ten years old or so, in Mumbai, India, and I have trained in USA and Canada too for a long time. So I have been doing it for around three decades. I want to teach self defense to the world. I feel it is important especially for young girls. Most girls this age do not seem to know how to defend themselves in a dangerous situation. I am contacting companies in the United States to sponsor my workshops. I wondered if you would know of individuals and groups who would be interested in sponsoring such events in Europe, France etc. I was thinking of teaching in workshops of around 40 students in each workshop, with around 12 to 16 classes in each workshop. I can also teach privately. I am particularly interested in teaching in Paris and Nice, as these are my favorite cities. As my father Prof. M. S Narasimhan is an eminent mathematician / scientist, he has worked and lived in both cities. I have this visited him and my mother there many times, with my elder sister Shobhana. Add to this, with the recent events in Paris and Nice (both of which upset me very much, along with the events in Brussels) I think it will be very useful to teach self defense to the young population there, as this will give them a feeling of resilience and self confidence. With negative events on the rise, I think it is all the more important for youngsters to be able to defend themselves as individuals and in groups. I have trained in Korean Tae Kwon Do and in a style of Chinese Kung Fu called Tai Chi Chuan. I can teach these in a very enjoyable way to youngsters.
