The Indian Army Corps of Engineers is a branch of Indian Army. It was founded in 1777 and is headquartered in New Delhi. The first regiment of the Indian Army Corps of Engineers was Madras Engineer Group which is also known as Madras Sappers. The Indian Army Corps of Engineers operates three main combat engineering regiments which include Madras Sappers, the Bengal Sappers and the Bombay Sappers. The Indian Army Corps of Engineers is involved in the construction of bridges, tracks, roads, air fields, buildings, dock installations etc.
