What is Arkansas State Board of Nursing?
The Arkansas State Board of Nursing is developed to protect the life and health of the Citizens of Arkansas by regular and safe nursing care. The Nurse Practice Act and Rules were established by the Arkansas Legislature by regulating the licenses to practice nursing. The Board is responsible for providing the nursing education by giving approval of nursing schools and also the nursing practices. The Board comprises of 13 members appointed for the four year period by the Governor. The members can practice nursing only if they are authorized and licensed by Board for participation in the Nurse Licensure Compact. The different categories of licenses that are issued by the Board are Registered Nurse (RN), Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Psychiatric Technician Nurse (LPTN), Registered Nurse Practitioner (RNP)and Advanced Practice Nurse (APN). The Arkansas State Board of Nursing was founded in 1913.
