The Rajiv Aarogyasri Community Health Insurance Scheme (RAS) implemented by the State Government of Andhra Pradesh. The scheme is administered by the Aarogyasri Health Care Trust. The trust is engaged in providing wide range of health insurance products to low income individuals and families including children, pregnant women, disabled people, and old aged people. The Rajiv Aarogyasri Community Health Insurance Scheme (RAS) was started on 1 April, 2007 to provide financial protection to the families living Below Poverty Line (BPL). It helps to enhance the health standards of numerous Below Poverty Line (BPL) families by providing them quality health care services. More than 938 treatments which includes Pancreas, Cochlear Implant Surgery with Auditory-Verbal Therapy for Children below 6 years, Pediatric Congenital Malformations, Prostheses etc are covered under this scheme in order to improve access of numerous Below Poverty Line (BPL) families for treatment of identified diseases which involves surgeries, hospitalization, and therapies. The aim of The Rajiv Aarogyasri Community Health Insurance Scheme (RAS) is to achieve "Health for All" within the state. Secretary, Trustees, Chief Executive Officer (IAS Officer), and the Chief Minister of the state jointly manage the functioning of the Aarogyasri Health Care Trust. The scheme is funded by the state government and helps to pay a portion of the medical expenses.
