What is 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing?
3rd Marine Aircraft Wing is a chief aviation unit which was opened on 10th November in the year 1942 at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California. It is also abbreviated as 3rd MAW. It is a major division of I Marine Expeditionary Force. The wing consists of four flying groups, an aviation engineering group, an aviation command & control group and squadron. Its current aircrafts are AV-8B Harrier II, MV-22 Osprey, RQ-7 Shadow, Scan Eagle, UH-1N Huey, F/A-18 Hornet, C-12 Huron and many more. In 2002, the wing started working to Kuwait in order to plan the combat operations in Iraq.
